European Security and Defence College

On 19 and 20 June 2003 the European Council endorsed at its meeting in Thessaloniki developing a coordinated EU Training Directive on the European Security and Defence Policy ( ESDP). The Joint Action 2005/575/CFSP of 18 July 2005, the European Security and Defence College is (ESDC ), English European Security and Defence College ( ESDC ), built.

The ESDC is the key player in the civil and military fields of education in the field of ESDP. It is a network of different institutions and colleges that deal with issues of security and defense policy, organized.

All nationals of all Member States, acceding and candidate countries and, where appropriate, by third countries can prove training, provided they belong to the civilian or military personnel, dealing with strategic aspects of the ESDP. At the invitation of representatives of non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, the mass media and the business can participate in training.

The ESDC has the following objectives: strengthening European security culture within ESDP; Promoting a better understanding of ESDP; Provide EU agencies and the military staffs of the Member States with knowledgeable personnel; Help promote professional relations and contacts among training participants.
