European Union of Music Competitions for Youth

The European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY ) (European Union of Music Competitions for Youth ) is a European umbrella organization for more than 50 national and international music competitions for young people. Founded in the 1960s, EMCY is there to develop and expand the musical education of young Europeans. For this, the EMCY organizes concerts throughout Europe (with or without orchestra ), broadcasts, tours, awards, master classes and courses for outstanding competition winners.

Every year thousands of musicians who are younger than 25 years, to EMCY competitions and projects sometimes in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union to reach people across the continent. EMCY is a registered charity based in Munich. Your international board consists of five representatives, which is led by President Paul Scholer since 2012. In 2010, EMCY celebrate her 40th birthday in Heerlen, Netherlands.

The EMCY board is elected at the General Assembly every four years. The current members are:

EMCY office

The EMCY office is located in the premises of Young Musicians housed in Munich and is directed by Sophie Duhnkrack as general secretary.

General

The EMCY General Assembly usually gathered every two years in different European countries at the invitation of a member EMCY competition. The last one has 2012 in Ohrid (Macedonia) took place at the invitation of the " International Competition for Young Musicians ' Ohrid Pearls ' ".
