European Youth Parliament

The European Youth Parliament in Germany eV is a non-profit organization and one of the 36 national sub-organizations of the European Youth Parliament (EYP ). It is made since its founding in 1990, one for the political education and intercultural cooperation between young people.

The association is supported by volunteer students and has no political mandate. Rather, it wants to influence positively with political education, the future of Europe. Annually take part in the events of the association several hundred young people participated from all over Europe. During the meetings, current European issues are discussed and promoted cultural exchanges for young people.

Each session consists of team building ( group dynamics preparation), Work Committee ( committee work ) and General Assembly ( Parliamentary Assembly ). The multi-day events and a social program is offered, which offers participants the opportunity not only to political but also cultural exchange.

National Selection Conference

The European Youth Parliament organized annually since 1990 by the National Selection Conference as a school competition. Nationwide at the first round of the National selection take over 800 students from over 80 schools participate with Gymnasium upper level. Due to the application resolutions twelve school delegations are selected for three Regional Selection meetings in North, South and Central Germany. The four best delegations on this pre-selection meetings are finally invited to the National Selection Conference. 2013 found this place in early June in Kiel. Again, the best two delegations represented Germany at the International meeting of the European Youth Parliament. As the winner were in 2012 laid the Lessing -Gymnasium Frankfurt and high school Oberalster from Hamburg. The delegation from Frankfurt in November represented Germany at the International meeting in Amsterdam, while the Hamburg School at the International meeting in Munich in 2013 participated.

European Forum

In addition to the national selection meeting students from Germany have the opportunity to attend the European forums. This bring up to 100 young people from all over Europe, (but without competition ) to discuss European issues in the usual format.

Finally, the format since 2010 schools offers " The EJP at the school " the opportunity to organize a three-day student forums directly in their place and in their premises.

In order to maintain contact between the former members of the EJP to deepen and expand the European Alumni Association (EAA ), headquartered in Berlin, was founded in 2004.

Presidency and Board of Trustees

The Chair is Franziska Maier, her deputy is Lorenz Stree. The national committee is made up Klaus Hänsch, Karl Otto Pohl, Hans -Gert Poettering, André Schmitz, Gesine Schwan, Michaele Schreyer and Christina Weiss.
