Eurytios-Krater

As Eurytios Crater frühkorinthischer a column krater is called.

The Eurytios crater is about the year 600 dated approximately in the time BC. There is a vase, which connects the still quite new possibilities of black-figure vase painting and polychrome painting with regard to the design of form and decoration of a vase with a particularly qualitative painting. The crater found in Cerveteri, which today is located in the Louvre in Paris, shows on the front of the banquet Eurytos for Heracles. This scene, after which the vessel was also named, is so far the only known of its kind in the Corinthian vase painting. The painting supportive are added to many captions of the figures. The reverse shows a battle scene, possibly from the Trojan War. Among the handles is a kitchen scene, and probably the earliest representation of the suicide of Ajax. In the lower frieze are herons and animal friezes and a deer hunting offered.
