Eutin–Neustadt railway

The railway line Eutin -Neustadt was a 16 -kilometer-long, non-electrified branch line that connected the cities Eutin and Neustadt in Holstein.

Geography

The route ran through the terminal moraine of East Holstein. She joined the county seat Eutin with along the Baltic port city of Neustadt.

There were three intermediate stops: Robel, Bujendorf and Oevelgönne. Of these, only possessed Bujendorf on a massive station building. Robel had only a simple breakpoint, the same applies to the established until after the Second World War breakpoint Oevelgönne. All three intermediate stations were quite far away from the town centers.

The chainage was continuous from Kiel ( km 0 ) On Eutin (km 47). Even today, the section of Neustadt Gbf (km 62) to Neustadt Pbf (km 63) is kilometriert from Kiel.

The route was part of the east-west axis Neustadt- Neumünster -Buesum, which consisted of five sections.

History

The line was opened on 31 May 1866 as part of the railway line Neumünster -Neustadt. Operators was the Altona- Kiel Railway Company, which was nationalized in 1884. In the 1970s, the line was operated by a passenger Eilzugpaar the relation Heath Neumünster -Neustadt and about six passenger train pairs. The express train stopped between Eutin and Neustadt, only in Bujendorf. His journey time was 19 minutes, while the passenger trains took about 22 minutes. As locomotives especially the 515 and 798 series have been used, but there were locomotive-hauled trains. By 1976 there was a D- train pair Keel Puttgarden that sailed the route in the summer. However, it remained in this test. In 1980 sailed TEEM trains the relation Hamburg- Eidelstedt - Neumünster - Eutin - Neustadt- Puttgarden planned the route. Finally, in 1981 the long-distance trains Vogelfluglinie were still diverted via the route in October. However, the passenger was set on 22 May 1982. The freight was followed on 31 December 1982 (according to other sources on December 30, 1983 or for June 3, 1984 ). The tracks were dismantled in the years 1984/85. Only in the city of Eutin the track was maintained up to a Panzerverladeanlage the local Bundeswehrkaserne; but it is not used anymore.
