Eutyches

Eutyches (c. 378 in Constantinople Opel; † after 454 ) was a Byzantine presbyter and the founder of Monophysitism.

In an emphatic anti - Nestorianism Eutyches attacked the formula of " a physical basis for the incarnate Logos " again. He said that the humanity of Christ was absorbed by the divinity as a drop of honey in the sea. According to him, the Eutychianische dispute is named ( 444-451 ).

Eutyches was condemned by a synod in 448 Constantine Opel chaired by the Archbishop Flavian of Constantinople Opel as heretics and excommunicated, but rehabilitated at the Council of Ephesus in the year 449, the " Robber Synod ", at the instigation of the Patriarch Dioscorus I of Alexandria. The Council of Chalcedon of 451 who rejected Monophysitism, condemned Eutyches again.

As Monophysite followers of the teachings are referred to, which are not two natures, namely, a divine and a human are connected in Christ, but only give a natural, being human was absorbed equally from the divine.
