EVA Air (Chinese长荣 航空, Pinyin Chang-rong Hángkōng ) is a private airline based in Taipei, Taiwan. Home air base, the airport is Taipei Taiwan Taoyuan International near Taoyuan.

History

The airline was founded in March 1989 as a subsidiary of Evergreen Marine, Taiwan. This shipping company founded in 1968 greatly expanded and is now one of the ten largest container shipping companies in the world. Eva Air ordered from 1989 to 1991 a total of 26 new wide-body aircraft: ten Boeing 747-400, four Boeing 767-200, four Boeing 767 -300ER, as well as eight McDonnell Douglas MD -11 in the total contract value of U.S. $ 3.6 billion to delivery 1991 to 1996.

On 1 July 1992 EVA Air launched with two Boeing 767 - 300ER aircraft to flight operations. In 1992, the first two jumbo jets were put into operation. 1995 Eva Air was the first airline that began the Boeing 767 on the trans-Pacific route. On 1 July 1998, the subsidiary UNI Air was founded. It originated from three Taiwanese regional and domestic airlines and operates the Taiwanese domestic flights from EVA Air flights from Taiwan and in the PRC.

In June 2000, EVA Air ordered as a launch customer for Boeing 777s three - 200LR. In addition, four Boeing 777- 300ER aircraft were ordered and received a further eight options. In January 2001 the first two Airbus aircraft have already been ordered A330 -200, at the same time a model of the Airbus A330 was introduced in procurement, with the new color design of EVA Air was presented for the aircraft. The lower half of the fuselage of the aircraft is now painted green instead of white. In June 2003, the first Airbus A330 -200 was delivered, followed by another ten until 2006. On 19 July 2004, the options for eight Boeing 777- 300ERs were converted into firm orders. In November 2004 the airline ordered the eleventh Airbus A330 -200.

One focus of the EVA Air is the air freight service, in 2008 681.289 tons of cargo were transported. EVA Air is part of the Evergreen Group, one of Taiwan's largest companies and best known in Asia. The Group cooperates with numerous companies and built with Evergreen Aviation Technologies division in collaboration with the U.S. company Boeing Boeing Dream Lifter 747LCF. There are also several in Taiwan Evergreen upscale hotels.

According to a press release EVA Air had applied to join the airline alliance Star Alliance in early 2011. On June 18, 2013 EVA Air Star Alliance joined finally.

Destinations

In Europe, EVA Air Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris and London, flies to. Since 18 March 2010 EVA Air also introduced again twice weekly cargo flights to Vienna with a Boeing 747 by this compound but has since been relisted.

There are also code-share (passenger ) and Block Space Agreement ( freight) with Shanghai Airlines ( which is represented in Germany by EVA AIR), Air Macau and Lufthansa Cargo.
