Evald Ilyenkov

Ewald Ilyenkov Vasilyevich (Russian Эвальд Васильевич Ильенков; born February 18, 1924 in Smolensk, † March 21, 1979 in Moscow) was a Soviet philosopher, psychologist and educator.

Life

Ilyenkov began in 1941 to study at the Moscow Institute of History, Philosophy and Literature ( MIFLI ), which he had to cancel its 1942 convocation. In 1946 he began studying at the Faculty of Philosophy, Moscow State University back on and completed this 1950. 1953 he defended his doctoral dissertation on " Some questions of materialist dialectics in Marx ' work ' Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy ' ". In 1968 his habilitation " On the question of the nature of thought ."

Ilyenkov dealt with the central questions of philosophy. His research focused on epistemology, dialectic and logic in a materialistic understanding. Many of his works deal with the problem of the identity of thinking and being. Ilyenkov it was based on the views of Marx, but - with a critical distance - even on the philosophy of Spinoza and Hegel.

Ilyenkov worked as a philosopher also to psychological and pedagogical issues and wrote, among other things about personality theory, cognitive development and knowledge acquisition in the classroom. He was the cultural-historical school of psychology, but particularly connected to the activity theory. He was, inter alia, boarding school for deaf- blind people in Zagorsk under the direction of Alexander Meschtscherjakow close and tried to continue the work after his death in 1974. He supported several former students of the boarding school in their study of psychology. In 1979 he decided to commit suicide.
