Everardus Antonius M. Baaij

Everardus Anthony M. Baaij SCI ( born March 24, 1921 in Rotterdam, † January 31, 2012 in Port Elizabeth ) was a Dutch religious clergyman, missionary and Roman Catholic Bishop of Aliwal North.

Life

Everardus Anthony M. Baaij joined the Congregation of the Dehonians and received on 20 July 1947, the ordination. He initially worked before he came to South Africa in Canada and the United States.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 17 December 1973 Bishop of the Diocese of Aliwal. The Archbishop of Dakar, Joseph Patrick Fitzgerald OMI consecrated him on 23 May of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were John Baptist Lück SCI, Bishop Emeritus of Aliwal, and Joseph Anthony De Palma, SCI, Bishop of the Diocese of De Aar. His motto was Veni Creator.

On October 30, 1981 Pope John Paul II accepted his health conditional resignation.
