Similar Species

E. mimounalis similar in size and drawing Evergestis frumentalis. The basic color but darker and less yellowish. In addition, the first -named species is distinguished by the nearly parallel, strongly notched cross lines on the tops of the front wings. On the lower wing surface is colored E. mimounalis uniform and less whitish and gray patterned.

Dissemination

Evergestis mimounalis occurs in Morocco in the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas.

Biology

The preimaginal stages are unknown. Moths were caught from July to September.

System

From the literature, the following synonyms are known:

  • Orobena mimounalis Oberthuer, 1922
  • Evergestis mimounalis distinctalis Rungs, 1975

Evergestis mimounalis distinctalis approximation has been described as a replacement name for Evergestis Fulgura sensu Zerny 1935 nec Le Cerf 1933. Approximation considered distinctalis as a subspecies of E. mimounalis, which occurs at high altitudes. Later he regarded as a subspecies of E. mimounalis Evergestis hordealis approximation (1979). The status of E. m. distinctalis is therefore unclear and needs to be checked.
