Evgeny Davydov

Yevgeny Vitalyevich Davydov (Russian: Евгений Витальевич Давыдов; born May 27, 1967 in Chelyabinsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player. With the national team of the USSR in 1990 he was World Champion and with the United team in 1992 Olympic champion.

Career

Evgeny Davydov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, for the first team, he was active from 1984 to 1986 in the Wysschaja League, the second Soviet division. He was then obliged by record champions HK CSKA Moscow, with whom he three times in a row won the Soviet championship until 1989. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 in the twelfth round than a total of 235 players from the Winnipeg Jets. First, he remained at HK CSKA Moscow before moving to the National Hockey League at the end of the 1991/92 season to the Winnipeg Jets. After a successful season with 49 points scorer in a total of 83 games, the winger was issued for 1993/94 season in exchange for a fourth- round option for the NHL Entry Draft 1994 to the Florida Panthers. For the Panthers, however, he played only 21 games before he was transferred to the Ottawa Senators. The 1994/95 season he joined the Senators in the NHL, but left this after only three games and spent the entire rest of the season in the International Hockey League for the Chicago Wolves and San Diego Gulls.

For the 1995/96 season Davydov returned to Europe, where he spent the season with the EHC Olten of the Swiss National League B and HC Amiens Somme during the French Ligue Magnus. Then he stood for two years at Brynäs IF in the Swedish Elitserien under contract. Especially in the 1996/97 season he was able to convince in Northern Europeans and was top scorer with 30 of the Elitserien main round. The 1998/99 season he began in his native Russia when reigning champions Ak Bars Kazan in the Super League and finished it at EV train in the Swiss National League A. The following two years he spent with his former club EHC Olten in the NLB. The 2001/02 season he joined Kärpät Oulu in the Finnish SM- liiga. He left the club, however, after only seven games already and stood throughout the rest of the season with the capital club Berlin Capitals in the German Ice Hockey League on the ice.

In the season 2002/ 03 he played for Krylia Sovetov Moscow the PHK in the Super League and the HC Milan in the Italian Serie A1. Both teams, however, he came only five league operations. Most recently, he played one year each for the long Olofströms IK from the Division 1, the third Swedish league, and Titan Klin from the now second-rate Wysschaja league. He then ended his career.

Internationally

For the Soviet Union Davydov took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships 1985 U20 World Junior Championships in 1986 and 1987 as well as some. In the U18 European Championship in 1985, he won with his team while the silver at the 1986 U20 World Championship gold medal. In the 1987 U20 World Cup, the Soviet Union, as well as Canada eliminated from the tournament after it came in a direct meeting between the teams in a mass brawl involving all players and coaches were involved. Davydov was there the first non -standing on the field player, who intervened in the brawl.

In the senior level, he represented the Soviet Union at the 1990 World Cup, where he won the gold medal with his team. After winning the world title he was awarded the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. For the United team, he ran at the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 and was with the team in his only Olympic gold medalist at the Olympics.
