Excalibur Airways

Excalibur Airways was a British charter airline.

History

Excalibur Airways was founded in 1992 and started with three leased Airbus A320 -200 operations in which based on the East Midlands airport, although the majority of the flights started on the London Gatwick Airport. In 1994, the fleet was expanded by an additional A320, and first Boeing 737-300. Excalibur Airways was the first charter airline operating an aircraft of the Airbus A320 family.

In the summer of 1995, Excalibur Airways three aircraft at London Gatwick, and one each at Manchester Airport, at East Midlands Airport and one at the airports in the northeast of Great Britain (the machine was then normally, for example, from Newcastle airport and the airport Humberside used ). The airline began at this time only Airbus A320, three Boeing 737s were sold.

In 1995, the tour operator announced gradually their contracts with Excalibur Airways because of several problems with the quality of service. In addition, 1996 was at an aborted attempt to start a McDonnell Douglas DC -10-30 smoke, so that the airline was judged by the population as unsafe.

Shortly thereafter, Excalibur Airways had finally cease flying in June 1996.

Destinations

Most of the flights went to Egypt, other objectives were, among others, in North Africa and the Mediterranean. The end of 1995, the airline took the first time on long-haul flights to Florida and the Caribbean.
