The eye of the eagle is a Danish children's film from the year 1997.

Action

The action takes place in medieval times. The twelve- year-old Valdemar is brought by his father, the King of Denmark, in a monastery Bishop Eskil. The king goes to war, and the bishop said the king, Valdemar would be safe. But the bishop is planning a revolt against the king. For this purpose, he hires the one-eyed man. The one-eyed man has a trained eagle. With the help of the eagle he can prey on his victims.

Valdemar is behind the plans of the bishop and flees the convent. He is accompanied by Aske, a kitchen boy. They manage to escape from the one-eyed man. In the meantime, the bishop stir up the feudal lords against the king. Now when the king appears again at the monastery, the trap snaps, and the King is captured. But Valdemar and Aske can warn some knight of the king in time, and so they can fight back and free the king.

Reviews

The lexicon of the International film according to the film was " [e ] indrucksvoll photographed and played mainly by the small cast convincing". The " technically perfect film" offers " family fun ". " The staged spectacular story promises adventure with lots of action; but in addition to dramatic battles convinced the film also through picturesque landscapes, " was the Nürnberger Zeitung. The Nuremberg News described the film as " [ f] amilientaugliche entertainment of the better sort ," which was " for young and old alike tension [ d] ".

Awards

The film won the 1997 Cinekid Film Award International. In 1998 he was awarded the Bonton -Company Award at the Czech Zlin Film Festival and five Robert prices:
