FA Vase

The FA Vase is a competition for English football teams in the lower regional leagues, which takes place annually.

Prior to 1974 footballers in the English leagues were either amateurs or professionals. 1974, when many clubs began to pay the money amateurs for playing, managed the Football Association, the separation and also the FA Amateur Cup from. Instead, they introduced the FA Vase for the majority of clubs, who had previously played in the Amateur Cup.

In the first season 1974/75 was attended by more than 200 teams. In 1999, 446 teams participated in two qualifying rounds that preceded the six main rounds, semifinals and finals.
