Facheiroa ulei

Facheiroa ulei is a flowering plant in the genus Facheiroa from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Facheiroa ulei growing shrubby with up to 40 branches and reaches stature heights of up to 5 meters. The dark - gray to green shoots have a diameter 5-7 cm. There are 15 to 20, 6 to 8 mm high ribs available. The reddish brown spines differ in 2 to 4 central spines 1-3 centimeters in length and 10 to 15 radial spines that are 1 to 1.5 inches long. The 20 -centimeter-long ( or longer ) and 2 to 4 inches wide cephalium consists of reddish- brown hair, which are up to 5 mm long.

The white flowers are 3 to 4.5 inches long and have diameters from 1.7 to 2.8 centimeter. The greenish fruits are long and 6 inches in diameter and have 3-4 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and hazard

Facheiroa ulei is distributed in the Brazilian state of Bahia located at altitudes between 400 and 950 meters. The first description was published in 1908 as Cephalocereus ulei by Robert Louis August Maximilian Gürke. Erich Werdermann they presented in 1933 in the genus Facheiroa. A synonym is Facheiroa publiflora Britton & Rose (1920).
