The Fachhochschule Flensburg is one of nine public universities in Schleswig -Holstein. It is with the University of Flensburg Flensburg just south of the town center in the sand mountain district on the campus. Currently, more than 4000 students study at the Fachhochschule Flensburg.

History

In 1875, a navigation school in Flensburg was set up; 1886 saw the establishment of the Royal Seedampf Machinist school. The historic building from the founding days are just outside the present-day campus near the city center, but are still in use by various institutions of the University of Applied Sciences and the University. The school received the status of a 1969 National College of Technology.

Until 1975, here mainly students of marine engineering and Navigator were also constructed according to the extension of the high school complex, inter alia, electrical engineering and computer science were then offered. With time, other engineering subjects were added: mathematics in 1987, technology translation in 1988 and the Department of Economics was established in 1990.
