Fachsenfeld is a municipality of the district town of Aalen in Ostalb in Baden- Württemberg, Germany.

Geography

Location

From the village Fachsenfelds is about 5 km as the crow the center of Aalen. The nearest town districts are Dewangen ( 2 km) and Wasseralfingen ( 4 km). The communities Abtsgmuend ( in the west) and Huettlingen (in the east ) are both about 3 km away. In addition Fachsenfeld bordered to the north by the municipality of Neuler.

History

Was first documented Fachsenfeld 1230. It belonged to the lords of Fachsenfeld that were probably a branch of the lords of Waiblingen. These were located at the castle of Waiblingen on half mountain height at today's district of Waiblingen and were in the service of Staufen. After the end of the Hohenstaufen Fachsenfeld and Waiblingen belonged to Oettingern, from 1401 to the Lords of Woellwarth. Under her Highness the Lutheran church was built in 1591, one of the oldest Protestant churches Württemberg.

Castle Fachsenfeld
