The Facultés Universitaires Saint -Louis (abbreviation FUSL, German Faculties of Saint -Louis ) is a French-language school based in the Belgian capital Brussels.

Since 2004, the Faculties of Saint -Louis of the Académie Louvain, the network of French-speaking Catholic universities in Belgium. 2007 began a process of integration into a single Catholic university.

At the three faculties (philosophy, philology and Human Sciences; Law, economics, social and political ) and the Institute for European Studies study about 2300 students acquire the majority here a bachelor. Since 2007, there are also master's degree programs.

History

The Faculties of Saint -Louis in 1858 were from a Catholic school of philosophy in the rue du Marais in Brussels, the seat of today's university forth. A Law Faculty ( Faculté de Droit fr. ) joined fast to the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology ( fr. faculté de Philosophie, lettres et sciences humaines ( FLTR ) ). 1891, the faculties were recognized as free university. In 1965 founded the Faculty of Economics, Social and Policy ( fr. faculté of Sciences économiques, Sociales et Politiques ( ESPO ) ).

In 1969, a Dutch-speaking branch of the in 1973 completely split off - today's Catholic University of Brussels.

In 2004, the administrative building detects a fire. The building of the library were destroyed by the fire-fighting operations. Built in 2005, The library includes some striking architectural sections of the old library, for example a part of an impressive wooden staircase.
