The nature reserve Fada Archei located in the northeast of Chad, in the Ennedi region south of the town of Fada. It was established in 1967 and covers an area of ​​2110 km ² in the western part of the Ennedi Massif.

The terrain of the reserve comprises the western part of flat surfaces is covered by the semi -desert vegetation of the southern Sahara grass and shrub savannah. The eastern part lies in the sandstone desert of the Ennedi with its deeply eroded into the rock canyons. In these there are six lakes that are fed by sources from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer. The daily release of water from the aquifer is about 600 to 700 cubic meters per day, so that can develop gallery forests around the lakes. These consist of Fragrant acacia ( Acacia nilotica ), seyal (Acacia seyal ), Adina microcephala, Wüstendattel ( Balanites aegyptiaca ), Weis strain ( Boscia angustifolia), Ficus spp. and Vitex doniana.

At large mammals come before the lion ( Panthera leo), cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus ), the Addax ( Addax nasomaculatus ), the Barbary sheep (Ammotragus lervia ) and the Dorcas gazelle ( Gazella dorcas ) in the area of the nature reserve. The avifauna is naturally rich; so, in 1997, among other stocks of spotted flying chicken ( Pterocles coronatus ), the flight strips chicken ( Pterocles lichtensteinii ), the Wüstenuhus (Bubo Ascalaphus ) and the Long-tailed Glossy Stars ( Lamprotornis pulcher ) registered.
