Fadil Hoxha

Fadil Hoxha ( Serbo: Fadilj Hodža ) ( born March 15, 1916 in Gjakova, Kingdom of Serbia, † April 22, 2001 in Pristina ) was a Yugoslav politician of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia ( LCY ).

Biography

Hoxha was approximately 40 years the leading figure of the Socialist Autonomous Province of Kosovo within the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ( SFRY).

Already on July 11, 1945, he was not only Chairman of the People's Assembly (Parliament President), but at the same time also the Chairman of the Executive Council (Prime Minister) of Kosovo. The President of Parliament, he granted 1953, but remained until 1963 Prime Minister. From July 1967 to May 1969, he was the second time chairman of the People's Assembly.

In 1970 he became a member of the Presidium of the SFRY as a representative of the Kosovo Autonomous Region. This office he held until 1984. At this time he resigned from political life after 1981 saw the first bloody conflicts and their crackdown by Serb forces in Kosovo, which Hoxha faced hostile. Successor as chairman of the SFRY and representatives of Kosovo was Sinan Hasani.
