Position of the Fagaras Mountains

The Fagaras Mountains ( also Fagaras mountains, Fagaras Munţii Romanian, Hungarian Fogarasi - havasok ) is located in the mountain range of the Southern Carpathians in Romania. It is crossed by the Transfogarascher high street.

The ridge has a length of about 70 km and a width of 40 km. Within the mountain range lies west of Brasov mountain Moldoveanu. This is with 2544 m the highest peak of the mountain as well as all of Romania.

Five other peaks in the Fagaras Mountains have a height of about 2500 m, namely the negoiu ( 2535 m), the Vistea Mare ( 2527 m), the Lespezi ( 2522 m), the Vanatoarea lui Buteanu ( 2507 m) and Dara ( 2501 m). To the mountains with altitudes below 2500 m counts as the Serbota with 2331 m.

In Fagaras Mountains are several smaller lakes.
