Fair Antigua, We Salute Thee

Fair Antigua, We Salute Thee (English " Beautiful Antigua, we salute you " ) is the national anthem of Antigua and Barbuda.

History

The text was written by Sir Novelle Hamilton Richards. The original version of the text was changed slightly in 1981, mainly because in the old text, the smaller Barbuda was not mentioned.

The melody wrote in 1966, the church musician and pianist Walter Chambers. It is written in Scheme A1 -B1 -A2 -B2 and in the style of an Anglo-Saxon church chant. It is in B flat major and in the arrangement of HA Kenney common.

Fair Antigua, We Salute Thee 1967 adopted on the occasion of the attainment of autonomy within the Commonwealth as a national song in addition to continuing official national anthem God Save the Queen. After complete independence from Britain on November 1, 1981, was confirmed by small changes to the text as the national anthem. Royal anthem is still God Save the Queen.
