Sokolov is in the valley of the Floeha. The highest point of the municipality lies at 432 m, the lowest point is the Floeha with 280 m.

History

The first mention Falkenaus as Falkenawe can be traced to the year 1378. From 1453 mainly limestone is broken in place. First, for the Chemnitz city walls and later also for the hunting lodge Augustus castle. Originally created as Waldhufendorf place was largely influenced by the new industrialization in the second half of the 19th century, including through the establishment of a cotton mill.

Policy

The municipality Sokolov made ​​since 1995 together with the administrative community Floeha Floeha. Most administrative tasks were therefore perceived by the municipality Floeha.
