Fallen (English for " crashed" / " like " in the sense of fallen or died ) is the debut album by the American metal band Evanescence. Three songs (" Whisper", "Imaginary " and "My Immortal" ) were taken from the demo album Origin, which was published only in a limited edition in Little Rock. The follow-up album Anywhere but Home is a concert recording of the album Fallen.
The album went platinum in Austria, in Germany and in Switzerland with 2x platinum. In the U.S., it got to number 3 in the album charts, over 100 weeks was represented in these and reached 7 times platinum status. Worldwide it has sold over 15 million copies and is thus ranked 11th best-selling albums of the years 2000 to 2009.
Titles and lyrics
Amy Lee said in an interview in Australia MTV's The Lair, that she has never written a song together with Ben Moody. She started always alone, presented their designs Moody and then took adjustments. Most of the songs from traps reflect Amy's feelings and thoughts resist.
" Going Under " was the last song that was written for traps. It reflects the just cooked through physically and emotionally destructive relationship Lees. The song should be the first single. Since " Bring Me to Life" but was part of the soundtrack of Daredevil, this title has been brought forward as a single.
The idea of " Bring Me to Life " is based on an encounter with the Lee's friend of a friend at a restaurant. She felt unhappy and abused in their relationship, but tried to hide. After a few words he suddenly asked: "Are you happy? ". She felt her heart beat and affirmed the answer in faith, he was a clairvoyant. She later stated, however, that she wrote the song about her old friend and current husband Josh Hartzler.
Lee's sister was fascinated by pop stars like Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, what was the inspiration for the song " Everybody's Fool". This was dressed as an eight- year-old as those superstars, which angered Amy.
" My Immortal " was written by Ben Moody and is based on one of his short stories. It's about a spirit who will not let go a. In the booklet, he dedicated the song to his grandfather.
However, the text was "haunted" is also based on a story by Moody, written by Amy Lee. The title is about a little girl who follows her red ball in a dilapidated mansion, from which there suddenly is no more output.
"Hello" was how the " Like You" written by the album The Open Door, deceased in memory of Lee's sister.
" Tourniquet " was originally written by Rocky Gray for the band Soul Embraced and acts of suicide.
