Fangxiang

Xiang Fang (方 响/方 响, fāngxiǎng, fang hsiang ) is played in the Chinese music xylophone from a set of sixteen tuned metal bars of iron, one above the other hanging in two rows of eight in a wooden frame.

The plates have the same length and width but are different in thickness. They are struck with a hammer. The Fang Xiang is similar to the ancient Chinese game Klangstein Bianqing and the chimes Bianzhong that were previously used in the temple and court music.

In Chinese music instrument classification of the "eight sounds " ( Bayin ) it belongs to the category of metal.
