Färjestaden

Borgholm is a place (Swedish: so-called tätort ) in the Swedish Kalmar län Province and the historical province of Oland. It is part of the municipality Mörbylånga and is the largest city of the Baltic island of Öland.

Borgholm is known for its zoo and amusement park Öland Jur & Nöjespark. Other tourist destinations include the mini-golf course, the old harbor and the shopping center Ölands Köpstad ( Öland Shopping City), where is the biggest business of the ICA supermarket. In Borgholm is the church of Borgholm. To the east is the windmill Bjönhovda kvarnar. It is called the king of the mill, as it is the largest of the typical Öland windmills.

The main ferry between the Swedish mainland and the island of Öland went to the beginning of the 1970s from Borgholm. After the construction of the Öland bridge ( Ölandsbron ) of this ferry service was discontinued.
