Farmers Insurance Group

Farmers is a U.S. insurance group. It is the third largest personal lines and liability insurance company in the United States.

History

The company, founded in 1928 was acquired by Zurich Financial Services in 1998 and now operates in 41 states through a network of 21,000 employees.

Structure

The Farmers brand name may refer both to the Farmers Group, Inc. or the Farmers Exchanges. Farmers Group, Inc. is the management and holding company, which is located entirely together with its subsidiaries, is owned by Zurich Financial Services. Farmers Exchanges comprises three reciprocal insurers with subsidiaries. These belong to policyholders, but are managed by Farmers Group.

At Farmers also include:

  • Farmers New World Life Insurance, founded in 1910 as New World Life Insurance was acquired by Farmers in 1953 and is one of the only insurance company to Famer Group.
  • Foremost, a specialty insurer for travel and camping insurance accepted, in March 2000.
  • Bristol West, established in 1973 a motor vehicle insurers from Florida adopted in July 2007.
  • 21st Century adopted by the American International Group in July 2009.
