Farmington is a city and the county seat of Davis County in the U.S. state of Utah.

Geography

The city covers an area of 20.1 km ² ( 7.8 mi ²). There are no bodies of water present. The city is located 16 miles north of Salt Lake City.

History

The first inhabitants were Indians who inhabited this area until 1860. Around 1825 the first trappers came to this area. In the 1840s, followed by the first settlers. Shortly after the Salt Lake Valley was settled by Mormons, Heber C. Haight made ​​his way north to Graze Cattle, there built a log house and settled with his family. A little later followed by other settlers. They founded the village of " North Cottonwood ", which was renamed in 1892 in Farmington.
