Geography

The river rises about 1.4 km south-southwest of the hamlet Wilhermsdorfer Kreben as Hardbächlein in the Entznersweiher. The Hardbächlein flows along the Hardbächleinteiche in an arc to the northeast toward Kirchfarrnbach. In the south of the town comes from the left of the Lower Krebener ditch from this confluence is called the waters Kirchfarrnbach. The (or ) Kirchfarrnbach flows in a northeasterly direction between the Dillberg and the county road FÜ 11 past the Wittinghof after Keidenzell. In the south Keidenzells comes from the left of the Dürrnfarrnbach, from this confluence is called the waters Farrnbach. It then flows in an easterly direction between the Dillberg and the county road FÜ 16 by hammer mill and then flows southwest of the village to Dream Lake, an approximately 2 -acre pond. Other places on the Farrnbach are Gonnersdorf, Greimersdorf and Schwadermühle. From the Schwadermühle, just before the tunnel under the main road in 2409 the Farrnbach becomes a waters of the second order. (Wrongly named masculine ) southeast of the commercial area on the Farrnbach Mühlbach is to Erzleitenmühle and discharged the Kohler mill. The Farrnbach underpasses between two mills Südwesttangente in an underpass. West of Hiltmannsdorf the Mühlbach is again introduced into the Farrnbach. The Farrnbach leads north past Hiltmannsdorf and you soon come to the Fürth city. It leads you past the southwest of Burgfarrnbach and crosses the village between the Church of St. John the Baptist and Burgfarrnbach castle, to then pass under the Geißäckerstraße the Würzburg road ( county road FüS 2) and the railway line between Nuremberg and Würzburg. The Farrnbach now follows the Geißäckerstraße to the Main -Danube Canal. The channel and the harbor road crosses under the Farrnbach and now reaches Unterfarrnbach, after crossing the place it leads between Mühltalstraße and the railway line Nuremberg -Bamberg in direction northeast. After crossing under the county road FüS 1 Farrnbach opens the north of the railway bridge of the railway line to Bamberg in the Regnitz.

Like most of the western tributaries of the Regnitz has the Farrnbach a low gradient and low runoff and sand structures near the shore and in the river bed.
