FASA
The FASA Corporation, most recently " FASA Studio " and often referred to as " FASA " called (acronym for: " Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration " ), in the years 1980 to 2007 was a U.S. company for roller and board games as well as later computer games.
History
The FASA -Verlag was founded in 1980.
FASA began as a company that was solely designed to make additions and enhancements to the then very popular sci-fi role-playing game "Traveller " from " Game Designers Workshop" ( GDW ). " Freedonia " - as part of the acronym " Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration " - again referring to the fictional country Freedonia in the Marx Brothers film The Marx Brothers at war. Freedonia was a world traveler from the original campaign of Ross Babcock and Jordan Weisman.
FASA was known by the license for the Star Trek role-playing game and brought a number of successful games out, especially BattleTech and Shadowrun.
Unofficial successor and owner of most of the licenses, the company WizKids Jordan Weisman.
" FASA Interactive" - - In 1999, the creator of MechWarrior were purchased from the software manufacturer Microsoft. Eight years later, in 2007, in the " FASA Studio " renamed department was closed.
