Fataga

Fataga is a place on the island of Gran Canaria. It lies in the interior of the island belongs to the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. A well preserved historical center, old, narrow, paved with stone streets and many Canarian houses preserved in its original state is characterized by the village. Fataga lies in the valley of a thousand palms, between brown jagged rocks, surrounded by a narrow band of green. The otherwise barren hillsides are decorated with pine groves.

Two restaurants, two tourist shops, an old watermill, an art gallery and a museum since 2006, the Museo de Fataga, are other attractions. The ancient bakery was taken out of service in late 2006.

The village was seriously considered in the big forest fire in 2007 affected. In addition to individual buildings here also especially many plants are burned. The inhabitants have removed the traces of fire for the most part.
