Fatou Diome

Fatou Diome (* 1968 Niodior ) is a Senegalese writer.

Biography

After a first release ( a collection of stories in 2001), the author experienced great success with her ​​debut novel The Belly of an ocean 2003 ( German 2004). France and Africa and their relationship to each other form the framework of her stories and her novel. Her style is strongly influenced by the so typical of contemporary life in Africa storytelling. With the characteristic of it, blunt descriptions, a ruthless humor and a precise, nuanced language, she paints a grim portrait of the integration difficulties after arriving in France, repeatedly penetrated by the memories of childhood in Senegal. She currently lives in France and his doctorate in French language and literature at the University of Strasbourg.
