Făurei

Faurei is a town in the district of Braila in Romania.

Location

Faurei is located south of the river Buzău in the lowlands Câmpia Brailei, a part of the Wallachian Plain. The county capital of Brăila is located about 60 km northeast.

History

Faurei is a relatively new settlement, which was established in 1872 in connection with the construction of the railway line Buzau - Braila. The station was named after the village about 5 km southwest faurei, which today bears the name faurei satellite and is part of the municipality Surdilă - Greci. Later, the new Bahnhofsiedlung Gara faurei was the construction of the lines to Bucharest, Feteşti and Tecuci an important railway junction in southeastern Romania. As a result, the young settlement underwent several name changes: In 1925, she received the name of the politician Ion IC Brătianu, 1948 of the 1941 murder Communists Filimon Sârbu. In 1952 the return naming faurei. From 1950 to 1968, the location within the former administrative divisions of Romania was the seat of a Rajons. 1968 faurei was declared a city. Population

1930 about 750 residents were registered on the territory of the present-day city. As of the 2002 census lived in faurei 4,097 people, including 3,967 Romanians and 125 Roma.

Traffic

Faurei has regular and direct rail links to many major cities in the country. Through the city along the national road (drum National) DN 2B runs from Buzău after Galaţi.
