The burgundy rabbit is a medium sized ( 4.25 to 5.25 kg) rabbit breed.

Appearance of Burgundy Rabbit

The burgundy rabbit has a cylindrical, relatively high-ranking body. Its body color is yellowish-red, the belly bottom, the bottom of the flower and the agouti markings are white, up to a maximum cream. There is a yellow colored wild rabbit with effect from the Yellow amplifier. The corresponding Erbformeln is: AbCDGy2 ( German symbolism ) or ABCDE ( English symbolism )

The color of Burgundy is significantly brighter than the Saxons at the Red and Gold New Zealanders.

History of Burgundy Rabbit

The origin of the Burgundy rabbit comes from the literature is not clear. French and Swiss breeders were apparently involved in its development where it apparently came to reciprocal crosses with the Red New Zealanders in the past. The Dutch standard is to France as the country of origin of the breed. The recognition of the breed in Germany was relatively late. In the GDR, the Burgundy rabbits was first approved in 1980 with the valuation provisions for breed rabbits in socialist countries as a race. The recognition in the Federal Republic took place in 1986.
