FBK Kaunas
Kauno futbolo beisbolo klubas, better known by the acronym FBK Kaunas is a Lithuanian baseball and football club from Kaunas. With ten championships in football, the club 's most successful club of Lithuania. Currently, however, only playing in the second-rate 1 Lyga.
History
1960 a club called Banga Kaunas was founded in Kaunas. During the Soviet era, the club was founded in 1986 and 1989 regional champion of Lithuania. From 1990, the club participated in the Lithuanian championship in the A Lyga. In 1993, the resigned as football department at the baseball club and so founded the current club.
In 1997, the club qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup 1997. Although he won with 3-2 against KS / Leiftur and played 2-2 draw against Odense BK, but resigned only four points in the group stage.
In the first years of the A Lyga, the club reached midfield places. In 1998, to the cup final, but the game against Ekranas Panevezys ended with a 0-1 defeat. FK Zalgiris Kaunas Under the name the first time they won the championship in the transitional season in 1999, when it was changed to a seasonal trend within the calendar year. In the 2008 /09 season the club reached after victories over FC Santa Coloma of Andorra and the Glasgow Rangers the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League in which the team was eliminated against the Danish side Aalborg BK. After the 2008 season, FBK pulled due to differences with the Lithuanian Football Federation initially voluntarily from the first division back. Then the team was demoted to the third tier.
