Historical Development

Already at the beginning of the 20th century dive Wismar football clubs on the regular game mode, so in 1904 the FC Elite Wismar and a year later the Wismar FC 1905 A-Class Mecklenburg. Both played in the Mecklenburg A-Class. To 1909 and probably in the 1930s played in various leagues Mecklenburg Germania Wismar. His venue was in 1921 the sports field at the Goethe street, today Jahn sports field. He summed then 10,000 spectators. From 1942 until the end of the war played TSV Wismar in Mecklenburg Gauliga, at that time one of the 16 top divisions in Germany.

The names of each game variety strongest football teams in Wismar continued even after the war continued. Between 1946 and 1949, the sports community Wismar South played for the national championship in Mecklenburg. This title was won in 1949 with a 1-0 final victory over the SG Schwerin and was associated with the rise in the highest East German league, the later DDR - Oberliga. In order to strengthen the team for the higher league, they merged with the BSG ship repair and Deruta for Central Sports Community ( CCU ) Anker Wismar. New venue was the Kurt citizens stadium with 15,000 seats. Still, the playing strength was not enough, and the team already rose after a season again. From 1946 to 1950 Fritz Laband was in the team who then played for Hamburger SV and 1954 with the German national team became world champion. Even in the subsequent period brought Wismar produced many players who later played in the DDR - Oberliga and GDR national team were (see people). With the game early in the season 1950/51 in the second-rate DDR League ZSG was converted following the usual at this time trend in the Sports Association (SPA) anchor. After the immediate promotion back to the DDR - Oberliga, there was a new name change - from "anchor" was "engine". However, the team got no eligibility for the two major stages of Wismar, so the league games had to be held in Rostock. Once again, the quality of the team was not enough, and it was repeated but the descent.

After three seasons in the DDR -Liga in 1956 it came to a renewed decline in the DDR II League, and after its dissolution played motor 1963/64, in the district league Rostock. In the meantime, there was another renaming of the team. On February 3, 1961 merged engine with the district division BSG building ( until 1957 BSG unit) to the new TSG Wismar. The crew of BSG structure played in the second team of TSG to 1984 continued uninterrupted in the district league Rostock. In 1964, the TSG was district champion and got back on to the GDR League. This class could be held up to the 1983/84 season. In 1972, the TSG was season winner, but failed in the climb to league games. 1984 filed a 10th place not to stay in the GDR League, because this has been reduced from five to two seasons. By the end of the GDR, the TSG had to play in the third-class district league Rostock. The district championship again in 1989 was not enough to climb, because in the promotion round only the fourth place was achieved. Only with the championship win in 1991 reached the summit in the now fourth-rate in all-German football national league Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania ( 1994 fünftklassig, 1995 Association League ).
