FC Baník Horná Nitra

The FK Mesto Prievidza is a former Slovak football club from Prievidza. It was founded in 1918 as a PAC Prievidza. Between 1993 and 2000, played Prievidza in the highest Slovak league, the league Corgoň. In March 2010, the club moved the men's team back because of financial difficulties of the second Slovak league.

Club history

The club made ​​for the first time nationwide attention, as he rose in 1972 under the name Banik Prievidza in the nationwide second Czechoslovak league. In the 1973/74 season BANIK missed just two points promotion to the 1st League 1974/75 was the team's fourth. Two years later Prievidza rose in the third league starting to rise again in the meantime split second league succeeded in 1981. 1990 Prievidza could not keep the class again, but managed its chances of promotion.

At the last joint Czechoslovak season 1992 /93 Banik Prievidza qualified by a fourth place in the Slovak group of 2nd league ( 1 SNFL ) for the new first Slovak league.

In the first season Prievidza could keep the class just because of the better direct comparison against the bottom club FC Nitra same point. 1994/95 was renamed MFK Prievidza club ninth overall in the twelve team league. In the following season Prievidza rose only failed from bringing up the rear, because the league was expanded from four to 16 teams. By the eighth rank in the season 1996/97 Prievidza achieved the best result in their history.

In the coming years it went downhill. According to a twelfth and a 14th place Prievidza was that had adopted its old name back Banik, 1999/2000 Table and dismounted in the second league. The team was put through to the 3rd league, from which it could rise again in 2003. 2003 merged with BANIK MŠK topvar - Upper Nitra Topoľčany and formed the HFK Prievidza.

The HFK, in 2005, the class does not hold, and descended into the 3rd league. In summer 2006 there was a reorganization of the Slovak league system. The top division, the Corgoň league, followed by the second-class league and the first split second third-rate league. The HFK Prievidza missed by one rank to qualify for the second league západ. However, since the FC Družstevník Báč abandoned for financial reasons to be right to start, moved by the HFK Prievidza.

In the summer of 2007, the HFK Prievidza returned to the second Slovak League, the first league back. For the 2008/09 season, the club renamed it FK Mesto Prievidza. In March 2010, the club announced the withdrawal from the game known reason was financial difficulties.
