FC Botoșani

The FC Botosani is a Romanian football club from Botosani. He was four times in the second round by the Romanian Cup and plays in Liga 1, the highest Romanian football league since the 2013/14 season.

History

The FC Botosani was founded in 1937 under the name of Venus Botosani. In its first year, he played in the group East Divizia C. Since the third highest Romanian football league was temporarily not played since 1938, Venus was no longer able to participate in the national game mode. The club failed also to qualify for the Divizia B.

After the end of World War II and the takeover by the Communist Party of the club changed its name to ASOCIATIA Sportiva Flamura Roşie Botosani ( German Sports Association Red Flag ) and the local textile industry has been connected. In 1956, the club managed to return to the Divizia C. Shortly thereafter, he changed his name to TEXTILA Botosani. Textila played two years in Divizia C before this has been relisted.

In 1963 the club changed its name again and played from now on as Unirea Botosani ( German unification ). He was one of the members of the Divizia C, as this took up the game again operating in the same year. However, after the back naming TEXTILA Botosani in 1965, the club was relegated again. He returned three years later in the third Romanian League back and knocked down a sixth place in the 1968/69 season with third place a year later, even at the gate to Divizia B, but had CFR Paşcani to defer. In the following years TEXTILA always slipped back into the relegation battle, but was able to hold the class.

In 1973 the club name was changed again and the club was called now Clubul Sportiv Botosani. Two years later, he reached the summit in the Divizia B, which he, however, after only one year had already left again in 1976. Also, this was swiftly followed by immediate re-emergence of the descent. This scenario is not repeated after the third ascent in 1979, however. Instead of having to have another chance at the class must remain, the club finished the 1979/80 season in third place Divizia B and achieved the best result in the club's history. This success was confirmed a year later, however, a renewed rise did not succeed.

In the following years the club slipped first into midfield from 1984 increasingly in the lower regions of the table, so that he had to fight to avoid relegation usually until the final day. In 1990, however, he had to join the in the Divizia C after eleven years. In the following two seasons, the club narrowly failed on re- up: In the 1990/91 season he had as runner Relonul Savinesti, let one years later, CFR Paşcani precedence. In 1992, the club changed its name to Mecanex Botosani and managed in the 1992/93 season barely in the league. Two years later he was called Cozinda Botosani and was excluded in the 1994/95 season from the league, so he had to play in the subsequent period in the regional leagues of the circle Botosani.

As Unirea Botosani briefly managed the club in the season 1998/99 the return to the Divizia C. Only after the football department had re-established as FC Botosani, the club went from 2001 permanently back in the national leagues. A second place behind Poli Unirea Iaşi in the 2001/ 02 season was followed by a seventh rank 2002/ 03. On 27 April 2004 Costel Orac took over from Florin Danciu as coach of the team and he succeeded at the end of the season to return to the Divizia B. After the eighth place in the second division season 2004/ 05 took Orac an offer from Unirea Urziceni and was June 24, 2005 by Mihai Ciobanu, the former coach of Dacia Unirea Brăila, detached. With it, the FC Botosani managed to reach the fourth rank in the season 2005/06. This was the best result of the operations financed by the patron Valeriu Iftime clubs. since the end of the season always occupied positions in midfield.

Beginning of May 2007 was dismissed coach Mihai Ciobanu. His successor was Leontin Grozavu, who had to resign after the 3:7 away defeat at FC Snagov of 22 November 2008. On January 13, 2009, he Cristian Popovici, the former coach of league rivals FCM Bacau, the vacant coaching job .. In June 2011, leaving coach Popovici, after almost two and a half years the club in the direction of the third division ASC Bacau and was 25th June 2011 by Marius Popescu, the former manager of FC Senso Câmpia Turzii replaced. After the home defeat against CSMS Iaşi Popescu was released on 29 October 2011, and replaced on 1 November 2011 by Costel Orac.
