FC Groningen
The FC Groningen ( pronunciation: [ se ː ɛf ɣro ː nɪŋə (n)] ) is a football club based in Groningen, Netherlands. The first football men's team plays in the highest Dutch league, the Eredivisie. The FC Groningen plays its home matches at Euro Borg Stadium. The old stadium was demolished in 2006 Oosterpark. The club and jersey colors are green and white.

History
The FC Groningen was founded on June 16, 1971, grew out of the outsourced professional football department of the GVAV ( Groninger Voetbal Vereniging en Atletiek ). The club started in the Eredivisie but were relegated three years later in the Eerste Divisie. In 1980, the Groninger master of Eersten Divisie and rose again. In the season 1983/1984 for the first time was played in european Oosterpark. In the UEFA Cup first Atlético Madrid was defeated before it was defeated in the second round of Inter Milan. A total of 24 games were played in European competition. As the playful best time of FC Groningen applies the season 1990/91, in which one still played up to 4 game days for the title of national champion before the season ends. Ultimately, it was enough for a third place.
After it came to a slow sporting decay. In the 1997/98 season FC Groningen rose after 18 years Ehrendivision from the Eerste Division. While still Sparta Rotterdam had to defer in the first second division year, came in 2000 to rise again. In the seasons 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 you could qualify for the UEFA Cup again.
