FC Hanau 93

The first Hanauer Football Club in 1893, founded on March 23, 1893, is the oldest football club in Hessen. The club was on January 28, 1900 one of the founding members of the German Football Federation ( DFB) and counted in the first two decades of its existence to the best Southern German football teams.

History

At Pentecost 1894 Hanau was 93 entitled as a foreign member of the Association of German football and cricket Federal, a play about its football championship against the league champions BFC Viktoria discharge 1889. The final should be according to the will of the Association in Berlin, at the seat of DF & CB, take place, but Hanau 93 wanted to play in its own place and traveled - probably for financial reasons - not to. This kept Viktoria 89 the title. In the summer of 2007, there was a symbolic, delayed by 113 years rescheduling with return game of the finals. The first leg ended 3-0 to Victoria, the second leg 1-1.

After the founding of the South German Football Association in 1897 was 93 Hanau in 1902, 1903, 1905 and 1906 in the final of Südmeisterschaft, but lost each of the Karlsruher FV 1906 or the 1st FC Pforzheim. A curiosity was the finale in 1905, at the Hanau could not attend because only two Hanauer players had traveled to the final. 1907, 1908 and 1909, was third, 1916 fourth in the Southern German finals.

Then they played for nearly 20 years no longer for the title. It was not until 1933, the Gauligen were founded and took part in the Hessen Champion at the German Championship, Hanau 93 could celebrate good results again. 1935, 1936 and 1938, the last master of FC was 93 Gauliga Hesse and participated in the German Cup final, but never survived the group stage. 1939 and 1940, was only second in the Gauliga.

After the Second World War, the Oberliga Süd was introduced as the new top division, the Hessian league was only second, from 1950 even only mediocre. 1953 Get your FC 93, the rise in the 2nd League South. 1956 and 1962, missed fourth promotion to the Oberliga Süd just barely. With caused by the introduction of the Bundesliga Leagues reform one rose in 1963 permanently from the second division from, the following year they even managed not avoid relegation in the league Hesse. 1966 to 1968 and from 1973 to 1975 played Hanau 93 again in the Oberliga Hessen. After the re-emergence in 1976 Hanauer 1978 rose surprisingly on to the 2nd Bundesliga Süd, but they stayed there only this one season 1978 / 79th 1982 it increased also, from the Hesse league. Last Hanau managed to return to the Amateur Oberliga in 1985, had this already but next year leave. The FC 93 played since then no longer in a third league. Since 1963, Hanau's only success was a fourth place in 1977 and 1985, a third place in 1981 and the second division promotion in 1978.

Hanau won in 1950 and 1978, the Hesse Cup. Also, the DFB Cup took part of FC 93; 1935 reached one even the quarter-finals, in the other six appearances they reached a maximum of the second round. The last part in a major round of the DFB Cup was in 1980.

In the 1990s, the FC Hanau 93 slipped up in the county league A, in recent years it fluctuated between county league and League group.

Former Players

1935 and 1936 of the FC 93 had a national player in its ranks. In these two years, Henry Sonnrein played once for Germany. Sonnrein making it next to Rudi Völler, who learned to play football at 1860 Hanau, Hanau's most famous players.

Venue

First, we used the parade as a playing field, the club was until 1927 at the "beautiful view" home. From 1927 to 1945, the FC Hanau 93 played in the stadium at the Aschaffenburg road, which summed up to 25,000 spectators. After the Second World War, the Black and Whites use temporarily the site of the works team of Dunlop Hanau until 1951, the Herbert - Dröse Stadium, which offers 16,000 spectators, was completed. Since 1997, the black-and- whites are home again on the youth sports field.
