FC Naftan Novopolotsk

The FK Naftan Nawapolazk (White Russian Нафтан Наваполацак, Russian Нафтан Новополоцк / Naftan Novopolotsk ) is a football club from the Belarusian city Nawapolazk. He plays in the Wyschejschaja Liha, the top division of Belarus. His greatest success of the club by winning the National Football Cup 2009 and in 2012.

History

The FK Naftan Nawapolazk was founded in 1963. Between 1995 and 2000 he was named Naftan Devon Nawapolazk.

Since 1996, the association is one with a one-year break in the 2002 season, the Wyschejschaja Liha. In the 2009 season the team achieved its best-ever ranking with rank 4. Also in 2009, celebrated the FK Naftan his first title victory in the Cup with a 2-1 playoff victory after extra time against FK Schachzjor Salihorsk, once the team had previously prevailed in the semi-final against champions BATE Borisov.

In his first appearance at an international level, the club failed to qualify for the UEFA Europa League 2009/10 after a 2-1 home victory in the first leg and a 0-1 away defeat in the return leg on away goals to KAA Gent. 2012 was followed in a qualification match for the Europa League 2012/13 against FK Red Star Belgrade a 3:4 at home and a 3-3 draw in Belgrade. Both home games were played in the Central Sports Complex Vitebsk.
