FC Obolon Kyiv

The FK Obolon Kyiv is a Ukrainian football club based in Kiev, the capital of the country. The club was founded in 1992 and plays its home games at Obolon Stadium in Kiev city district Obolon from. Currently plays Obolon Kyiv in the Ukrainian Perscha Liha, the second division of the country. Since 1999, the beverage company Obolon is the main sponsor of the club.

History

The FC Obolon Kiev was ( German: FC New Generation) in 1992 under the name FC Zmina founded. Just one year later, in 1993, the club changed its name to FC Zmina - Obolon. It followed in the next few years, further renaming in FC Obolon and FC Obolon - PPO. 1999, the club then took its current name in Obolon Kiev on.

Obolon Kiev has already played in the highest Ukrainian league, the Premjer - Liha. At the beginning of its existence, however, Obolon was in the third Ukrainian league, the Druha Liha. In the 1998/99 season the club for the first time able to advance into the second Ukrainian League ( Perscha Liha ) when the team along with Zakarpattia Uzhhorod and the now-defunct SK Odessa was able to rise in the Persha - Liha. In the Persha - Liha but the team was third from bottom and immediately rose again. Back in the third division, Obolon played again successful and managed to once again promoted to the second division, this time with Polissya Zhytomyr and Naftowyk -Ukrnafta Ochtyrka. This time played Obolon Kyiv in the second division and above with the club managed by a third behind Volyn Lutsk and Chernomorets Odessa the initial rise in the Premjer - Liha.
