FC Rapid București

Rapid Bucharest ( officially: Fotbal Club Rapid Bucureşti) is a Romanian sports club from Bucharest. His football department plays since 1990 in the first Romanian football league.

History

The club was on 11 June 1923 by railway workers (see also: CFR ) was founded. Rapid is the only pre-war Romanian association, which was due to the origin of the first Secretary General of the Romanian Communist Party, Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej not resolved from the railway environment.

Mid-January 2009 sparked Marian Rada, who until then had charge of the second team, the Portuguese José Peseiro as coach from. After Rapid won the 2008/ 09 no title in the season, Rada resigned on 3 May 2009 and was replaced by Viorel Hizo who had the club in the past looked several times. On 31 October 2009, the technical director Nicolae Manea was also coach of the team after his contract Hizo had previously resolved one day. As of March 31, 2010 Ioan Andone was the successor of Manea as a coach and managed the team until the end of the season 2009/10.

Before the start of the 2010/11 season brought George Copos, the patron of the association, with Marius Şumudică a new coach. After the home defeat against bottom club Sportul Studenţesc Şumudică was released on April 27, 2011, and replaced for the final five games by Marian Rada. A week after his dismissal as coach of the Romanian national team Razvan Lucescu signed on 11 June 2011, a two-year contract as head coach at Rapid. Handball

Rapid Bucharest is known in addition to its football department also especially for its women's handball team. She currently plays as a Rapid Bucureşti CFR in the nation highest league and could in 1964, the finals in the European Cup of Champions, today's Champions League 14:13 against the Danish representative Helsingør IF decide for themselves. The EHF Cup Rapid Bucharest could win by a clear 28:16 home win and a 22:24 against the French club Dijon CSL 1993.
