FC Tirol Innsbruck

FC Tirol Innsbruck was an Austrian football club from the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck, which existed from 1993 until its bankruptcy in 2002. He was cleaved from the Bundesliga club FC Wacker Innsbruck as a separate club.

History

The FC Tirol Innsbruck emerged from the Bundesliga side FC Wacker Innsbruck. In the summer of 1993, the professional division of the FC Wacker Innsbruck was spun off as a separate club and originally FC Tirol Innsbruck, respectively named with the incorporation of the sponsor FC Tirol Innsbruck Capillaris. The city of Innsbruck insisted that the city 's name was mentioned as the first. FC Wacker Innsbruck had, however, to play in the fourth division national league, FC Tirol Innsbruck started, thanks to the license acquisition, in his first season already in the Bundesliga. In 1994, who later arrested for embezzlement Klaus Mair at the presidency. The club was renamed FC Tirol Innsbruck and with Hans Krankl obliged a young but prominent coach. Mair has invested more than 20 million shillings in a new team and fulfilled Hans Krankl practically almost any player desired. After the arrest Mairs the club was faced with the resolution and was rescued, among others, by the influence of renowned Tyrolean politician.

After the entry of the new sponsor Tirolmilch 1995 was the club name FC Tirol Innsbruck milk. The President took office for two years Jürgen Bodenseer, he was succeeded in 1997 Martin Kerscher. In winter 1998/99 Kurt Jara was hired as the new coach. With him, the club experienced a new flight and celebrated the league title in 2000 and 2001. In autumn 2001, Jara left the Tyrolean and went to Hamburger SV. Up to then work done by Jara put the new coach Joachim Löw continued and celebrated with FC Tirol Innsbruck recent league title in 2002. After the debt mountain of Tyrol had amassed more and more in recent years and by now incurred distress sales of players no longer could be extinguished, the FC Tirol filed for bankruptcy in 2002 and dissolved subsequently, after the withdrawal of the Bundesliga license.
