FC Utrecht (women)

The women's football department of FC Utrecht was founded in 2007. The team plays in the League BeNe. Home Venue is the Sports Complex Zoudenbalch.

General

The club colors of FC Utrecht are red and white. Currently, the home kit is divided into two parts. From top left to bottom right of the colors to be separated. The pants are white, held the piece in red.

History

2007-2010: Formation and first years

Especially for the newly founded Eredivisie for women, the association founded on 21 March 2007, a women's team. This should be done for the next three years as a project to make women's football in the Netherlands more attractive. First trainer was from the Netherlands Maria van Kortenhof. As home of the sport is Zoudenbalch Stadium. On August 30, 2007, there was the first league game. Just one week later, on 6 September 2007, put the team by a 5-0 win against Willem II Tilburg the league record for the biggest win. This result has not yet been surpassed, however, set by the FC Twente Enschede vs SC Heerenveen. After the first season, ten wins and two draws were taken from twenty games and thus ensured the third place of six teams. With eight Torerfolgen was Shirley Smith best shooter of their team. A long time it also played for winning the KNVB Cup with. In the quarterfinals, the team was able to beat the ladies of the amateur club RCL 9-0, which was the highest competitive victory in club history. After a further success in the semifinals, the team was on 24 May 2008 at the finals of the tournament, where the FCU women met the FC Twente. The game was lost 1:3, so that one also failed here just before closing. In the following season seven teams already were at the start. They played a mixed season. Best result was against the league newcomer Roda JC Kerkrade 4-0. Towards the later champions AZ Alkmaar team two out of four games to win 1-0 and played 0-0 away and 0-1. No other team fared better. However, it did not make it retract victories against Willem II or ADO Den Haag. So had to settle at the end with the standings four of the club. Best striker of Utrichter was the Dutch national team Lisanne Vermeulen, who scored five goals so but still had less than eight goals scorer Sylvia Smit from SC Heerenveen. In the 2009/10 season was started despite new coach, Mark Verkuyl, mixed. The services were not better, so that it held to a disappointing fifth place during the entire season. Only on the basis of something better goal you had to not go by the SC Heerenveen, tied occupied the last place. With only seventeen Goals had the fewest of all teams. Of those achieved Manon van den Boogaard four goals and that was the best clubs. Much better it was in the fight for the national cup. In the semifinals they defeated the heaviest Broken, Willem II Tilburg, 3-2 after penalty before they could certainly win the final 3-0 against Ter Leede Amateuerverin. It is the first title in club history. In the final on 30 May 2010, there was van den Boogaard, who brought her club in the first -half lead before Monique van Veen and Mandy Versteegt zuschnürten the sack.

2010 to present: Current Development

For 2010/ 11, the league of six was enlarged to eight teams. Added to this were the teams of FC Zwolle and VVV -Venlo. At FC Utrecht an upheaval began. A total of ten players left the club, joined other clubs or ended the career. Faced seven recruits.

Stadium

The women's soccer team wears their home games at Sport Complex Zoudenbalch, in Utrecht, from. In addition to the ladies of the FCU and the youth teams of the club play their home matches in the sports venue. In 2001, the sports complex was opened. Executive Architekturberüro Zwarts & Jansma Architecten were. With a total capacity of 450 spectators, the football facility belongs to one of the smallest in the Eredivisie women. The ladies of the FC Utrecht have been supervised by two trainers. First trainer was Maria van Kortenhof. After this took an office at the KNVB in summer 2009, it was replaced by Mark Verkuyl. This was in his first year while not reach the League results of van Kortenhof, but managed his team into the final of the KNVB Cup to lead and win this.
