History

Dunărea Galaţi was founded in 1932 as a sports club of the Romanian railway company Caile Ferate novels under the name Gloria CFR Galaţi. In the early days, the club initially played at the regional level before it, 1936 was a founding member of the third- highest Romanian league, the Divizia C. After the immediate rise in the Divizia B succeeded in 1939 already, the renewed rise - the Divizia this time in the highest Romanian league, A. Here, Gloria placed always in the back third, before the game operation was interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War.

Upon resumption of the game service after the war, Gloria was only classified in the Divizia B, on the one hand, the teams of Transylvania were again classified that had fallen by the Second Vienna Award in 1940 in Hungary, and partly since Gloria in season 1940/41, only the had occupied last place that would have the following without interruption means relegation. In the aftermath Gloria was unable to match the level of the 1930s and fought in Divizia B only to avoid relegation. After two name changes - from 1948 the club first then appeared as CFR Galaţi, Galaţi in 1949 as Locomotiva - the club was relegated at the end of the season 1951 from the Divizia B from. In the aftermath Locomotiva took in 1957 to again called himself Gloria CFR Galaţi Galaţi and from 1958 CSM ( German Workers Sports Club ), mostly at the regional level in the game operation part. This was firstly due to the fact that the Divizia C was only held regularly since 1963, and also to the fact that it the sporty club failed to qualify for the national level.

After the club had the mid- 1960s, renamed again in Gloria CFR Galaţi, succeeded in 1966 to return to the Divizia C. In four years with fluctuating performances merged the football section of Gloria in 1970 with local rivals Oţelul Galaţi to FC Galati, who played from now on in Divizia B. In 1972 Oţelul rose out of the new club and joined the third division Dacia Galaţi on, the club retained the name Oţelul Galaţi.

The FC Galaţi fought from the beginning to the rise in the Divizia A, who also managed in 1974. 1976, the name of the club was changed in FCM Galaţi to document its origins as a workers club again in the name. Instead of being able to lay down in Divizia A, FCM Galaţi developed in the subsequent period to lift Team - only in season 1979/80 managed to stay in the league. So today do not count outstanding placements to the biggest successes of the club, but victories against the best Romanian teams Steaua Bucharest, Dinamo Bucharest and Rapid Bucharest.

In 1982, merged with the FCM Galaţi local rivals CSU Galaţi, who had 1976/77 already participated in the European Cup, but never even played in Divizia A. The new club took the name Dunărea CSU Galaţi. After the merger, again reached the summit and Dunărea played in the 1983/84 season the last time in Divizia A. After two failed attempts to create the re-emergence, the club in 1986 crashed ( the year in which the rivals Oţelul the jump in the Divizia A managed ) from the Divizia C.

Following the adoption of the old club name Gloria CFR Galaţi in 1988, the club was back in 1990 rise again in the Divizia B. After the exciting walkover in 1992, Gloria could not build on his earlier successes and placed in the following years in mid-table, before in 2000 the transition had to be commenced in the third division again. The association, which is now its present name Dunărea Galaţi ( German Danube Galaţi ) had assumed - 1994/95 he was briefly Constant CFR Galaţi - returned in 2004 back in the Divizia B. On 26th June 2007 Adrian Hârlab replaced the previous coach Liviu Ciobotariu. At the end of the second division season 2007/ 08 Dunărea Galaţi stood as a table Penultimate already established as a sporting relegated. Since Ştefan Chiţu, the patron of FCM Campina, but in August 2008 decided to dissolve his club and the higher-ranked clubs CSM Focsani and Inter Gaz Bucharest for financial reasons waived participation in the League II, Dunărea remained the transition into the league III spared. On 19 October 2009 was brought in as coach Viorel Tănase from the third division II Oţelul Galaţi, who then managed the team in the league II.
