Fealty

Fundamental to the feudal system was the so-called oath of fealty. He had to be stored by the mortgaged ( vassal ) and by the feudal lord.

The homage is done mostly using traditional forms, it includes the Trust 's promise to the Lord and accepting the consequences of breach of faith, on the other side but also the loyalty and protection promise of the Lord towards his vassal.

In the late Middle Ages investiture and oath of allegiance are consistently confirmed by a deed, done in modern times also replaced. If the spatial distance between two very large, the lord may appoint a representative, before the oath of allegiance must be completed.
