Fear Effect

Fear Effect is a system developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment and out process pioneered by Eidos Interactive computer game.

History

The game was released in 2000 exclusively for Sony's PlayStation to a total of 4 CD- ROMs, which was quite rare for a PlayStation game, even in view of the elaborate staging. The game was so successful that in 2001 it was with Fear Effect 2 - Retro Helix was continued. A third part called Fear Effect 3 - Inferno was for the PlayStation 2 in development, but was never published. From this third part but there is an extensive trailer, which already shows many cutscenes.

Content

Fear Effect is classified in the genre of action-adventure. The player takes on the role of Hana Tsu Vachel, the attempts in the futuristic Hong Kong as one of three mercenaries, Wee Ming Lam, track down the daughter of a powerful Chinese Triad boss.

The game is based in terms of gameplay, inter alia, at the Resident Evil series, but used instead of rigid, pre-rendered backgrounds FMVs, which by means of streaming and looping method as animated backgrounds for a new and distinctive look. In addition, play and cutscenes merge seamlessly.

Instead of a not unusual for this genre standard damage indicator, Fear Effect has the so-called "Fear Meter", which represents the fear and adrenaline state of the protagonist. It turns red when the main character takes damage or gets into an other threatening situation. If you win a gunfight, you can inconspicuously off a guard or successfully solve a puzzle, you get an adrenaline rush and the " Fear Meter" turns back to green ( normal).

Filming

A film adaptation of the game was planned several times, most recently in 2008. The plan, however, was not yet implemented.
