Feargal Sharkey

Sean Feargal Sharkey ( born August 13, 1958 in Derry ) is a Northern Irish singer. In the early 1990s, he finished his career as an artist and has since worked in music management.

Career

Sharkey was first known as the frontman of the Punkpopband The Undertones. After its dissolution in 1983, he worked briefly with the group The Assembly. The single Never Never, which reached # 4 on the charts in England originated.

In 1984 he launched a career as a solo artist. Sharkey's biggest hit was the single A Good Heart, which was ranked one of the single charts in the UK in December 1985 for two weeks. The song was written by Maria McKee. The follow-up single You Little Thief, to a groundbreaking and highly acclaimed video clip was released, and his debut album, which was produced by Dave Stewart, sold very well.

From the early 1990s Sharkey was more active as a music producer and worked as A & R manager for Polydor. From December 1998 to December 2003 he was a member of the UK regulator Radio Authority. Since October 2008 he has been CEO of UK Music, a newly formed umbrella organization of the British music industry.
