Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi ) is a Supreme Authority of the Federal Republic of Germany. It was founded in 1949 as the Federal Ministry of Economics. The main office of the Ministry is located in Berlin in the disability road in the district center. The second office of the Ministry is in the former Gallwitz Barracks in Bonn- Duisdorf. Current Head of Office is Sigmar Gabriel (SPD).

History

The forerunner of today's Federal Ministry of Economics and energy can be seen in 1917 founded Reich Economics Office. This 1919 evolved into the Reich Economics Ministry, which existed until 1945. The tasks were taken from 1946 to 1949 by the Administrative Office of Economics. After the founding of the Federal Republic existed from 1949 to 1998, the Federal Ministry of Economics. From May 1971 to December 1972 it was temporarily merged with the Federal Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Economy and Finance. 1998 was added from the Ministry of Research, the technology field, so that henceforth it was called the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. Between 2002 and 2005 it was combined with parts of the former Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour. Due to the federal government under Angela Merkel, the two were separated again in 2005 and named the Ministry again as the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. With the formation of the Cabinet Merkel III on 17 December 2013, the Ministry was renamed the Ministry of Economy and Energy.

Dienstsitz

The headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology is housed in a building complex consisting of the historic buildings of the former Kaiser Wilhelm Academy ( Military Medical Academy ) and the remnants of the former Invalides, supplemented by some new buildings. The invalidity house was built in its basic substance from the mid-18th century and at that time was out of town. The building of the Kaiser Wilhelm Academy was built in 1900.

Authorities

The Ministry are subordinated to several federal agencies. These include in Bonn, the Federal Cartel Office (FCO ) and the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway ( FNA ). In Berlin there are the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM ), the Physikalisch -Technische Bundesanstalt ( PTB ), headquartered in Braunschweig and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources ( BGR) with a second office in Hanover. What is more, the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) in Eschborn and Bochum, as well as Germany Trade and Invest ( GTAI ) which has been incorporated into the BMWi in Bonn 2010.
